If someone spoke to you like this everyday, would you still be their friend? Would you EVER speak to your best friend, your significant other, or your mother this way?

The answer is probably 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒐. You love them, so you'd never want to tear them down, right? You want a healthy and happy relationship with them, right?

𝘚𝘰 𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘺? You are with yourself 24/7/365. Your relationship with yourself is the single most important relationship you'll have on earth. It is CRUCIAL to have a healthy relationship with yourself if you ever want to succeed in anything and be happy.

Time and time again I'll have clients that will tear themselves down and I immediately put a stop to it. If you are constantly tearing yourself down, you can't move forward. Every workout will be a punishment. Everytime you track your food it will be because you hate yourself. That is the fastest way to self sabotage and continue on your yo-yo dieting journey. 
𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟯 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆. Say out loud 3 things you love about yourself, in the mirror, every morning. Start doing things because you love yourself and watch how things progress.

This is a phrase I hear on a near daily basis…thankfully @susanniebergallfitness provides us with a great solution to this issue! 😊👇

The problem isn’t that you don’t have time, and the problem isn’t that you don’t care. The problem is you are thinking about fitness as an all or nothing proposition.
⠀
You either have to be all-in, or it’s not worth doing.  Does that sound about right?
⠀
You’re thinking you have to spend at least 45 minutes at the gym, in order to have an effective workout. And if you can’t do that, then what’s the point?
⠀
Look, workouts don’t have to be perfect to be effective.
⠀
You know that saying, Something is Always Better than Nothing? It’s true. Especially in fitness.
⠀
You may not have time to drive to the gym, get your full workout in, and drive home, but you can walk downstairs, and do a quick effective workout that might look something like one of these:
⠀
Some are a little longer than 5 minutes and they all use just your bodyweight.
⠀
The cool thing about all of these is that you can make them more challenging by:
⠀
✅Adding weight; you can be super creative with how you add weight. Hold cans, hold a box, hold your dog 🐶
✅ Adding a half rep, constant tension reps, or pause reps
✅ Try to complete the circuit in less time (with perfect form) than you did the time before
⠀
And here’s the most important thing of all to remember:
⠀
Small steps done consistently over time will be more effective then bigger steps taken sporadically over time.
⠀
Like I have said, it’s all about 2 things:
⠀
➡️Taking action
➡️Being consistent with that action
⠀
Short effective workouts like these are perfect when life gets crazy and you don’t have time for a longer workout but you want to get something in.
⠀
Get to the gym when you can. And when you can’t?  Crush some short, effective circuits at home.

𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:⁣
-2 cups tightly packed fresh dates
(measured after pitting)⁣⁣
-1/4 cup warm water⁣⁣
-1/2 cup salted peanut butter⁣⁣
-2 Tbsp vegetable oil⁣⁣
-1/3 cup cacao or unsweetened cocoa powder⁣⁣
-1/3 cup dairy-free dark chocolate chips (optional)⁣⁣
-1/2 cup walnuts ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬⁣:⁣
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 C) and line a standard loaf pan (or similar size pan) with parchment paper. Set aside.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Add dates to food processor & blend until small bits or a ball forms. (It may also be an issue of food processor strength if it has a hard time blending.)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Once blended, separate the dates into chunks using a spoon. Then add hot water and blend until a sticky date paste forms. Scrape down sides as needed.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Add peanut butter, vegetable oil, and cacao powder and pulse until a sticky batter forms. It should be tacky and thick (scrape down sides as needed). Lastly add chocolate chips and walnuts (optional) and pulse to incorporate.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Transfer batter to lined loaf pan and spread into an even layer. For a smooth top, lay some parchment paper on top and use a flat-bottomed object (like a drinking glass) to press into an even layer.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Bake on the center rack for 15 minutes - the edges should be slightly dry. Remove from oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then carefully lift out of the pan using the edges of the parchment paper and let cool on a plate or cooling rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing. The longer they cool, the firmer they will become.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Enjoy warm or cooled. Store leftovers covered at room temperature up to 3 days, in the refrigerator up to 5-6 days, or in the freezer up to 1 month (let thaw before enjoying). DM for credit or removal 🧡

There are 5 common weight loss mistakes that nearly everyone makes:

1.Thinking its NOT working when it is. Just because the scale isn’t moving down fast enough doesn’t mean it’s not working. You have to give it some time. Everyone is different. If you feel more energized, no cravings & have energy, it’s working!

2.Using the calorie model. Most believe that if you’re in a caloric deficit you’ll lose weight, but is that healthy? Is the food you’re eating spiking Insulin which takes you out of fat burning mode? Is the food you’re eating sapping you’re energy? Are you still craving? Get your calories from whole food sources & not junk!

3.Eating too many nuts. It’s so easy to eat to many nuts. There are a lot of calories in nuts so be very careful not to over consume!

4. Everything in moderation.
Moderation is the worst advice you can give someone recovering from processed & sugary foods. Would you tell a recovering alcoholic to drink in moderation? I rest my case.

Extend your arms to the side (straight out at both sides) in a wide arc until you feel a stretch on your chest. Breathe in through your diaphragm as you perform this portion of the movement and keep in mind that throughout the movement, the arms and torso should remain stationary, allowing the movement only to occur at the shoulder joint.

A great sweet spot for a lean and athletic look is the 18-20% body fat range. This is sustainable for many women long term.⁣ And thats my goal too, between 17-19% body fat.

Something about being locked down, I thought well fuck, this time is going to pass regardless. My birthday is in July. It felt like the perfect time to transform my body, and my life.

I weaned myself off all medication (I took antidepressants and birth control for years), and I’m feeling great! I’m confident in saying 2020 is my year, and it can be yours, too!

#fatlossjourney Instagram Hashtag - Does anybody really care that you have abs? Maybe somebody, but not many bodies. So why do some people stress their bodies so much for the sake of vanity?

There is ALOT of benefits to having a strong midsection, but having an equally superficial person notice you probably shouldn't be one of them.

I used to call them club muscles. I had some clients especially on Fridays that wanted to works the chest and bi's even  though training those two body parts together is not the most efficient way to do it. But when all you want is that ephemeral pump for a couple hours I'd that. Then lots of bench and curls is what we're pumping up for the girls! 
This is a fallacy in my opinion. The body can be constructed in a way to be utilize the genes you were given and in my opinion should be trained that way. 
So make sure you're focusing on your whole body not your party parts. That way you develop a physique that's multi use not single serving.

You have your macros, you’re ready to go, and now you’re stuck because you don’t know what to eat..

I get this question often from new clients and here’s the thing, I’m not going to tell you what to eat. I’m going to teach you how to decide what to eat for yourself!😟
.
My goal as a coach isn’t to make you rely on me for the rest of your life in order to live this lifestyle. My goal is always to teach you how to live this lifestyle so well that you eventually no longer need me! That’s never going to happen if you’re relying on me (or anyone else) to tell you what to eat!
.
There’s no magical foods that you’re suppose to eat/not eat to lose weight. It all really comes down to how much you’re eating and that’s why we track macros. NOW I definitely wouldn’t recommend filling your macros with Oreos and protein shakes because micronutrients are still very important for health and optimizing results.
.
But one of beauties of tracking your macros is if you want the occasional Oreo, go ahead and have it! Just log it, fit it in, and work your meals around it. A good rule of thumb is to shoot for at least 80% of your diet coming from healthy, wholesome food.
.
If you’re stuck on how to come up with meals, here are a few tips:
.
1. Divide your macros by however many meals you plan to have that day and shoot for that amount of macros at each meal.
.
2. Keep your meals simple instead of making more complex meals that are hard to track. Choose a protein source (ex: chicken breast, lean beef/turkey, eggs/egg whites, fish, Greek yogurt, protein powder) a carb source (rice, potato, veggie, fruit, oats, pasta, bread) and a fat source if needed depending on the fat content of your protein source (nut butters, cooking oils, butter, cheese, avocado, salad dressings).
.
3. Pre-log your meals the night before so you can see your day of macros laid out and make adjustments where it’s needed.
.
.
Don’t over complicate it! You don’t have to put a ton of restrictions on yourself in order to reach your goal. I would actually argue that the more restrictive your diet is, the less likely you are to reach your goal and maintain that progress long term!

You just tend to eat the types of foods that have a ton of calories for a very small amount of food (calorie density). Its not the carbs, it is you and your tendency to overeat.⠀

😩 Mistake 4- Trying to Be Perfect Instead of Consistent⠀

Perfection is an illusion. The sooner you learn that the easier life and weight loss gets. What is not an illusion is being consistent in the face of failure. I will guarantee you will fail along the way. Knowing that should make you feel good, because it is inevitable and you can prepare for it now. Expect to get knocked down, get up, keep moving forward.⠀

😩 Mistake 5- Doing More Cardio Than Weight Lifting⠀

Weight lifting builds muscle, cardio does not. Muscle burns calories when you sleep, cardio burns calories only when you do it. I'm no investment expert, but putting the work in to weight lifiting sounds like a better investment.⠀ +⠀
😩 Mistake 6- Rushing Your Fat Loss Progress⠀
+⠀
You HATE when things in life are not in your immediate control. If you don’t let go of that, you will never succeed with fat loss. You cannot sustainably control the rate that you lose fat, all you can control is the calorie deficit you create and the consistency you build over time. The rate is the rate, and you need to be cool with it taking 6-24 months.

HIIT workouts are some of my favourite workouts to perform and are some of the best to improve cardiovascular capacity. In addition to low intensity cardio, HIIT can be great for conditioning and its versatility makes these short workouts fun and effective. On the left side, we have a workout that essentially breaks down a burpee into smaller and smaller, simpler and simpler parts; working from full burpees, to sprawls, and so on. Notice the work:rest ratio is 1:2 to ensure that we are recovering enough from the taxing exercise and it's variation. On the right, we have a far more simplistic HIIT workout, only utilizing sprints and rest. This work:rest ratio greatly favours the rest periods as we want to ensure each sprint is as hard and intense as we can make it. Both variations of HIIT training are great, but as with anything, these are merely examples.of how to structure a HIIT workout and should be adjusted to your fitness level and needs.

If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me if Intermittent Fasting worked, I’d be rich! My official answer would be, it does work, when done right by the right people. ⠀⠀⠀
Here’s why…
⠀⠀⠀
Intermittent fasting is the practice of fasting (eating no food) for a set number of hours every day and limiting your ‘eating hours’ to a set time frame. For example, you would ‘fast’ from 7pm-11am every day and consume all of your meals and snacks only between the hours of 11am-7pm. Sixteen hours of fasting, eight hours for eating.
⠀⠀⠀
The point is to limit the ‘eating window’ each day.
⠀⠀⠀
Some research says that by doing this, the body has time to process foods and get into a state of ketosis. Other research says this boosts the metabolism. There have been studies that have shown that by using this pattern, people can reduce their blood insulin and sugar levels, and even reverse type 2 diabetes. For the most part however, people use intermittent fasting (IF) as a means to reduce fat.
⠀⠀⠀
But, this doesn’t work for everyone.
⠀⠀⠀
You see, limiting the number of hours you have to eat is one thing. Reducing the amount of food you eat during that time, is another.
⠀⠀⠀
Here’s an example… with all women having maintenance calories of 1800 calories.
⠀⠀⠀
Jane eats on a traditional schedule. She eats 7am -  7-8-9pm. Across all of her meals and snacks she consumes about 1,800 calories.
⠀⠀⠀
Terri eats on an IF schedule: 11am and 7pm only. Across her meals and snacks, she consumes the same 1,800 calories that Jane does.  She eats all the same meals, just much closer together.
⠀⠀⠀
Laura also eats on an IF schedule. She too consumes her meals and snacks between 11am and 7pm. she limits her intake, only consumes 1,500 calories each day.
⠀⠀⠀
Because Laura is in a 300-calorie caloric deficit she will see weight loss results. Because Terri still eats her maintenance calories of 1,800, even though she is limiting the time she eats them in, it is unlikely she will see weight loss

It's the calorie deficit that really creates the weight loss, not so much the ‘skipping of breakfast’. Does that make sense? Ask me any IF questions!
