#nourishyourbody Instagram Hashtag - Stir fry is one of my favorite meals to make during the week for sure! That’s mainly because you can take whatever you have on hand and make it work. I don’t have the best knife skills when it comes to slicing the veggies but the @kamikoto knife pictured here makes my life a lot easier 😅. I’ve been using the @kamikoto Kanpeki knife set for the past couple of months and I absolutely love it. This is my first time having a good knife set and let me tell ya.. good knives are seriously a necessity! The Kanpeki set includes a vegetable knife, slicing knife and utility knife. “LIVELYMEALS” saves you money on your @kamikoto order. For the stir fry I simply used chicken thighs, broccoli, bell peppers and onions. I also made a tangy peanut sauce and here’s the ingredients for the sauce: 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce, juice from half a lime, 2 tsp sriracha, 2 tbsp maple syrup, 3 tbsp creamy natural peanut butter. #ad

I used the same base as my Chickpea, Pumpkin & Coconut curry I made a while back, but just swapped the pumpkin with 300g of cauliflower 😋 and it’s still delicious! In fact this is my favourite curry base, it never fails! ⁣⁣

I threw together this quick plate for lunch including three of my favorite things: eggs, potatoes and roasted veggies 😍👏🏻 also gonna slide an important psa in here which is that roasted cherry tomatoes taste x10000 better than regular 🤤 they were definitely the star of the show here! Ultimately, you have to work on the things that fill your purpose or values. Doing things just to do them often doesn’t end well, so whatever choices you make, make sure that they speak to the values you currently have and do what you can to stay fulfilled. ❤️ For me, sharing my knowledge and experiences is very fulfilling to my values and I hope to continue sharing those things moving forward (both food and life). ✨

1/2 cup oats
Pinch cinnamon
Pinch pumpkin spice
1 tbsp ground flax seed
Pinch of salt
1/2 a sliced up banana
1 cup cashew milk

Add everything to a sauce pan and bring to a simmer. Stir until thickened, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from stove top and serve. Today blueberries, raspberries, pepitas and the last scraps of peanut butter. 😂

As the semester winds down for me I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting and looking back at this semester I have learned a lot about myself and what truly matters in life. I have learned to let the little things go, like a bad exam grade. I have learned that I cannot do it all and that I should focus on only a few things at a time.
But most importantly I have learned that my outlook on every day really makes a difference! Paying more attention to how I react to situations and how I deal with the stress mentally affects everything else I do that day, being positive isn’t always easy but every day I try my best to find the light 💡 in every situation!

This is from a pan of banana apple almond butter baked oatmeal that I made, the other day. I missed my baked oatmeal; so when I saw this recipe, I was sold - lol. Even better, it was absolutely delicious and super easy to make 🙌🏽.

The ingredients included rolled oats, low-fat dairy milk (since I didn’t have almond milk), creamy almond butter, a couple of ripe mashed bananas, honey, a diced organic honeycrisp apple, and cinnamon. I ate it warm topped with a dollop of vanilla-flavored greek yogurt and a sprinkle of cinnamon. .

Instead I set goals with the client in mind - where are they up to in the readiness to change process? what are their food preferences? what is their cooking ability? how much time do they have? who else are they cooking for? From there realistic expectations can be set.

As part of those realistic expectations, it is ok to have cake sometimes. My point of this post is around, yes how expensive it is to eat whole, minimally processed foods and cooking from scratch at home but more so I wouldn’t want it any other way in what I choose to eat and what I pay for it.

So how do you minimise costs around eating healthy? 🤷🏼‍♀️

You could;
🛒 Buy seasonal fruit and vegetables.
🛒 Plan your week ahead.
🛒 Buy cheaper brands (that are sometimes actually better quality in ingredients).
🛒 Make enough for left overs for lunch or dinner.
🛒 Have some meat free meals.
🛒 Shop with a grocery list.
🛒 Don’t go to the supermarket hungry.

One of the biggest issues I see with women is they are under resourced. They want to train, work, cope with stress, kids etc but they don’t give their body adequate fuel. This forces your body to rely on stress hormones to make energy from fat and protein. Not only to you break down your precious muscle but you also end up with one or more issues like broken sleep, digestive issues (constipation and bloating), hormonal imbalances, erratic moods, no sex drive and zero energy.⁣⁣

Then most women (I used to do it) end up binge eating crap and drinking booze. Start fuelling your body and eat more regularly, if you’re hungry bloody eat! ⁣This way your body has the energy to heal, train, build muscle and then you will lose body fat. ⁣

My favourite carbs are: fresh OJ (oh my god my absolute bloody fav, some days I drink 1 litre), potatoes, fruit, sugar and good quality sourdough.⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣

This coconut and red lentil soup is so incredibly nourishing and delicious, every spoonful bursting with warming spices of cumin, coriander and turmeric. The combo of lentils and coconut milk makes every mouthful a experience of tasty creaminess. This was UNBELIEVABLY good!!😍. I would highly recommend.

I also had a yoghurt tub with it for my afternoon snack, as this alone would not have been enough.

In my opinion, vanilla is super underrated. It tastes sweet without being too sweet, and has a really nice flavour🙌.
